VisitorVille: Troubleshooter

Here are the most common issues, and how to resolve them...

Problem: Error message "MFC71.DLL cannot be found"

Problem: My computer crashed and I need to reinstall VisitorVille with my old settings; how do I do that?

  • Solution: Download the VisitorVille installation kit. During the installation, select "I am already a subscriber and want to use VisitorVille on this computer", and enter your User ID, Password, and Email.

Problem: I'm using Vista and am getting "Access to reports denied" when running VisitorVille

  • You need to run VisitorVille as Admin in Vista. Here's how:
    • Right-click the Windows logo (bottom left corner of screen)
    • Left-click "Open all users"
    • Right-click the VisitorVille shortcut and select "Run as administrator".
    • You will now be able to right-click your desktop VisitorVille shortcut and "Run as administrator", which gives you access to the reports.

Problem: I'm seeing traffic that isn't mine.

  • Solution: You have "Simulated Traffic Mode" turned on. Turn it off under the "View" menu.

Problem: Where is my "settings.dat" file for VisitorVille in Windows 7?

  • Solution: C:\Users\[YOUR_WINDOWS_USERNAME]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\VisitorVille .
